70" Ditch Bank Flail Mower, Offset Verge & Slope Cutter for Tractors 30-60 HP TMG-TFMO70

Ordering and shipping was fine. Unit was straightforward to assemble and get to work with. Instructions for lubrication are straightforward. I had about 1 mile of very overgrown fence line to tackle with lots of prickly shrubs mainly. Mower performed well, taking about 3 passes to tame the jungle.

After 15 hrs of use, one of the cutters disconnected from the roller with a bang. Despite hrs of searching never did find the cutter. TMG will only sell a full set of 36 cutters for $700 which is annoying. Individual or a 6 pack would be nice. Ordered that and it arrived quickly.

Inspecting the unit, of 36 cutter heads, 4 were missing the nuts so were ready to fly off, and of the 36, only one fastener was tight. The rest were loose. The supplied locknuts are of poor quality.

I purchased higher quality nuts and bolts from a local fastener company and replaced them all, at a fraction of the price of the low quality TMG parts. Got back to work.

An hr of easy mowing and heard a bad sound on the mower. Shut down and discovered the mower ingested the chain guard and scattered bits of chain and spacers all over. An hr with the magnetic sweeper to find most of the parts. The retaining bar was wrapped around the cutter wheel so I had to cut it off. Mowing without that chain guard is not recommended as it throws materials back at the tractor.

I never expected this unit to be commercial grade, but am disappointed in some low quality parts that made an otherwise ok unit problematic.

Overhaul I’m very satisfied only a few things that could be modified …like the bracket holding the gear box should be bolt at 4 point not only at two and bolt should have lock tight …all the hammer should also be bolted with better grade and metal lock nut with lock tigh as well cause the all loosing up every time I’m using it..I do change a few every time I’m using it !
But other than that I really enjoying my equipment !!

The unit was easy to assemble and easy to hook up to my tractor. This unit has met my needs so far but due to wet weather I've only cut a fraction of what I want to. It has exceeded my expectations so far. Great unit.

Shipping was very quick, delivery, not so much. Crate was in good shape when finally arrived. Packaging inside the great was very good. Lots of foam blankets and bubble wrap. Fairly intuitive to put together without instructions. Make sure you have some LARGE sockets to tighten the large pivot pin nuts! The bad, description says it is "quick hitch compatible"... IT IS NOT! I tried calling everything from a shorter top link to milling new holes to raise the top hook on my SpeeCo W hitch for CAT1. tore up the plastic PTO shield on the quick hitch. Only use your actual 3PTH arms. It's roughly $250CAN to replace the PTO shield. A nice touch, it did also come with the male hydraulic fittings already installed, and were the correct one s for my Kioti DK4310SE. Other than these learning curves so far, the unit look to be very well made, stout, and moves as it should. Still wet spring here in eastern Ontario, so I haven't been able to mow anything just yet. Oh, make sure you have a couple tubes of good grease and a good grease in as all the fittings are not pre-greases. And at least 1US quart of quality gear oil for the gear box, also dry. Grease and oil not included. I hope to be able to update this review once I get to start cutting in the next couple of months.
